TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer (React/Next.js): Building scalable digital storefronts and vehicle configurator experiences for GM's global vehicle commerce platform with an accent on complex rule-driven UIs, dynamic pricing, and reusable component architecture. Focus on micro frontends, deeply nested configuration state, accessibility, performance optimization, and AI-assisted frontend modernization.

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas; reporting to the Austin office three times per week

What you will do

  • Design and develop scalable, accessible, and reusable UI components for digital vehicle storefronts.
  • Build vehicle configuration, option and package selection, and build-and-price experiences across devices and markets.
  • Develop complex rule-driven interfaces with dependency graphs, mutual exclusions, package logic, and dynamic pricing.
  • Implement multi-step configuration workflows with complex state management, session persistence, undo/redo, and shareable configurations.
  • Work within a micro frontend architecture and monorepo while contributing to the internal design system.
  • Automate repetitive workflows, apply AI-assisted development practices, and modernize the frontend stack.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of frontend software development experience designing scalable component architectures.
  • Expert proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js, including hooks, server components, SSR, SSG, and ISR.
  • Hands-on experience with SolidJS or similar reactive frameworks and web components.
  • Strong knowledge of CSS, SASS, or Tailwind CSS; software architecture; design patterns; micro frontends; and reactive programming.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring peers, making strategic decisions, and working in Agile/Scrum teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience building reusable UI or web component libraries and working with enterprise design systems.
  • Accessibility programming experience, including WCAG 2.x compliance.
  • Frontend testing experience with Vitest, Playwright, BrowserStack, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with Turborepo, Vite, Rollup, or similar modular build systems.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
