Senior Project Engineer (Solar Energy)

TL;DR

Senior Project Engineer (SCADA/Controls): Configuring, programming, and integrating plant-level control systems for utility-scale PV and BESS projects with an accent on grid code compliance and interconnection. Focus on analyzing electrical system parameters, developing control logic, and leading Site Acceptance Testing.

Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 annually

What you will do

• Configure, program, and maintain SMA Power Plant Manager (PPM) for utility-scale inverters.
• Ensure inverter and PPM parameters align with customer project expectations and requirements.
• Provide technical support for large-scale PV and BESS power plant projects (hundreds of MW scale).
• Lead Control System Assessments, gathering project data and defining functional requirements.
• Develop high-level schematics and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to validate inverter functionality.
• Support integration testing, tuning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including SCADA and 3rd-party controller interoperability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Energy, or Control Systems Engineering.
• 5-8 years of professional experience in power plant controls or SCADA systems.
• Full US work authorization is required; no H-1B, OPT, CPT, or TN visa sponsorship available.
• Solid knowledge of utility-scale PV and BESS technology and power system behavior at the point of interconnection (POI).
• Experience with communication protocols including Modbus and DNP3.
• Proficiency with RTDS and familiarity with PLCs, edge controllers, or EMS.
