Lead Software Engineer (Java & AI-Driven Development)

Location: Richardson, Texas, USA; hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days remote

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for major Workforce Management capabilities and cross-functional initiatives.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable server-side enterprise solutions using Java technologies.
• Define architecture standards, engineering best practices, reusable design patterns, and delivery plans.
• Lead design reviews, architectural decisions, root-cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions for critical production issues.
• Own AI-assisted development practices, including coding agents, workflows, tooling, guardrails, and quality metrics.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders while partnering with Product, QA, Cloud, Security, Support, and Services teams.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including extensive Java web application development.
• Experience leading architecture and technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technical direction.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring, Hibernate, REST APIs, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Experience building and supporting complex enterprise-scale, multi-tier applications.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies, plus familiarity with agentic AI, prompt engineering, and tool integrations.
• Experience with CI/CD, Test-Driven Development, Agile/Scrum, troubleshooting, and technical communication; a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.

• Front-end development experience with Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and Spring MVC.
• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Cucumber for end-to-end testing.
• AWS, Maven, Jenkins, and Tomcat experience.
