Principal Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Principal Engineer (Automotive): Developing models, methods, and verification of applications in an in-house massively parallel code with an accent on NVH modeling strategy and FEA tools. Focus on solving complex problems in structural dynamics and acoustics to improve tire performance and industrialize new engineering technologies.

Location: Must be based in Akron, OH (Relocation not available)

What you will do

• Drive, maintain, and support the NVH modeling strategy.
• Develop finite element code and methods for solid mechanics and acoustics applied to tire performance prediction.
• Provide technical training, user support, and debugging for tire performance tools.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to identify, document, and implement new tire performance technologies.
• Participate in the design and industrialization of both applied and fundamental tire engineering projects.

Requirements

• MSc degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar field.
• Strong theoretical knowledge in structural dynamics and acoustics.
• Graduate-level knowledge of computational solid mechanics, multiscale methods, and nonlinear finite elements.
• Proficiency with numerical simulation tools such as Abaqus, Nastran, or Ansys for NVH simulations.
• Experience with basic development practices including Git, IDEs, and Agile.
• Must be based in Akron, OH; relocation is not provided.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. degree in structural dynamics and/or acoustics.
• 10+ years of experience as a developer of Numerical Simulation or Multiphysics tools.
• Hands-on experience with NVH testing and signal processing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Bash, or JavaScript.
