Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Sr. Engineer - Thin Film Deposition and Materials (Thin Film Deposition): Develop novel thin film deposition processes for nanometer-scale head devices with an accent on vacuum deposition optimization, materials characterization, and statistical process control. Focus on integrating new process modules into advanced prototype wafer builds and driving root-cause improvements during process excursions.
Company
builds data storage devices and advances recording head technologies through global R&D.
What you will do
- Develop and optimize thin film deposition processes to meet performance and reliability targets for nanometer-scale head devices.
- Use vacuum deposition technologies (PVD, IBD, evaporation, ALD, CVD) and statistical experimentation methods to improve film performance.
- Study material properties using microstructural, chemical, electrical, optical, and thermal/mechanical test methods.
- Maintain process stability with statistical process control and root-cause investigation during process excursions.
- Support configuration, qualification, and time-sharing of deposition equipment and coordinate R&D experimental runs.
- Transfer technologies to product development engineering and contribute to Seagate’s IP portfolio (invention disclosures, patents, trade secrets, publications).
Requirements
- Location: Bloomington, MN, US (on-site)
- 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or PhD with 0+ years) in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or Chemistry.
- Hands-on experience with thin film materials science, deposition, and characterization.
- Experience with thin film nucleation and growth, microstructural evolution, plasma physics, ion-surface interactions, and surface chemistry (helpful).
- Experience with thin film/nanostructure characterization tools such as XRD, AFM, 4-point probe, ellipsometry, XRF, FIB, SEM, and (S)TEM.
- Experience operating and/or maintaining vacuum deposition process equipment; knowledge of DOE, hypothesis testing, and ANOVA.
Culture & Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits for eligible employees, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k), and an employee stock purchase plan.
- Health savings account and healthcare spending accounts, plus dependent care.
- Paid time off including 12 holidays, flexible time off per company policy, minimum 48 hours of paid sick leave, and 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
