What you will do
- Lead the design and delivery of backend systems: APIs, data models, and services that run in production.
- Make hard technical calls on domain modeling and when to optimize for scale/extensibility versus fast learning.
- Ship end to end: take major initiatives from technical design through launch.
- Work across the stack as needed (frontend, mobile, and data) to unblock product delivery, using AI coding tools to stay effective outside core expertise.
- Set the technical bar via architecture, reviews, and engineering best practices, and turn working AI workflows into team standards.
- Mentor engineers and help raise overall engineering quality.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience with a track record of owning systems and taking them to production.
- Strong backend expertise in API design, data modeling, and production systems that hold up at scale.
- Experience working in an AI-first workflow where AI coding tools handle implementation and engineers focus on decisions, design, and review.
- Ability to make independent technical judgments and communicate trade-offs to both engineers and non-engineers.
- Comfort working outside core specialization and shipping unfamiliar parts of the stack when needed.
- Product mindset focused on shipping what learners actually use.
