Agent Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid

Salary: $170,000–$300,000 base salary per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and ship production LLM-backed agents that perform real audit work.
• Run error analysis on testing data and turn findings into improvements to agent judgment and reliability.
• Develop structured-output pipelines that transform model results into audit artifacts.
• Make model-selection, prompting, orchestration, quality, latency, and cost tradeoffs across multi-phase runs.
• Work with subject matter experts, design-partner firms, product, design, and customer-facing teams to improve agents.
• Expand agent coverage into new controls and internal audit areas.

Requirements

• Production experience shipping LLM-backed product features for real users.
• Applied AI experience with evaluations, error analysis, and model-selection decisions.
• Full-stack capability with sufficient backend depth for agent orchestration.
• Ability to work autonomously from ambiguous specifications and ship maintainable, tested, instrumented code.
• Strong collaboration with product managers, designers, domain experts, and customers.
• Comfort working directly with practitioners and domain experts in audit-related workflows.

Nice to have

• Python, TypeScript, React, Postgres, Hasura, or GraphQL.
• Temporal or comparable durable-execution and workflow-orchestration experience.
• Experience with Langfuse, Braintrust, LangSmith, Arize Phoenix, or comparable evaluation tools.
• Structured-output systems, schema contracts, document processing, or PDF and Excel manipulation.
• Startup, customer-facing, internal audit, SOX, accounting, or other regulated-domain experience.
