What you will do

• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to underwriters on processes and guidelines.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for underwriting escalations and complex loan scenarios.
• Manage pipeline performance to ensure loans remain within SLA requirements.
• Conduct spot reviews and quality audits to identify training needs and ensure compliance.
• Interview prospective underwriters and manage team administrative tasks like timecards and PTO.
• Collaborate with the VP of Underwriting on special projects and departmental reporting.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications required.
• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience (FHA, VA, Conventional).
• 5+ years of underwriting supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with Encompass LOS and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of ATR/QM, compliance, and disclosure requirements.

• Experience with USDA guidelines.
