TL;DR

First Line Support Production Engineer (Semiconductor): Providing rapid response to resolve engineering disturbances and supporting production output within the Wilton Factory with an accent on troubleshooting and documenting production floor interruptions. Focus on implementing short-term containments, managing failed parts, and ensuring cleanroom operational standards.

Location: Onsite in Wilton, CT, US. Must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot and document interruptions on the production floor alongside opticians and technicians.
  • Develop and implement short-term containments and structural solutions for production issues.
  • Manage failed parts, determine rework paths, and evaluate dispositions.
  • Perform hands-on engineering steps listed in the production operator dashboard (POD) to support output.
  • Generate detailed machine failure reports and provide daily quality improvement reports.
  • Support the development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical engineering discipline, Physics, or Material Science.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a high-tech production or manufacturing environment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment (full gowning, ISO 9000/14000 standards).
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and optical drawings.
  • Willingness to work night shifts (6pm – 6am) and occasional weekends.

Nice to have

  • Experience in optical fabrication or assembly (etching, polishing, litho process).
  • Prior cleanroom experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and PFMEA.
  • Proficiency with Teamcenter and SAP.
  • Ability to interpret optical tolerancing and Scratch-Dig specifications.
