Software Development Manager (Linux Kernel)

hirify.global Web Services provides cloud infrastructure and platform services, including hirify.global Linux for EC2, AWS products, and internal infrastructure.

What you will do

• Lead and grow an initial team of 8–12 software engineers maintaining the Linux kernel for hirify.global Linux.
• Own key kernel and GNU/Linux distribution components, focusing on security, performance, live patching, and live updates.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering plans, project schedules, and delivery commitments.
• Partner with product and program management teams, internal technical teams, senior leadership, and the open-source community.
• Review and improve engineering processes, software development methods, platform efficiency, flexibility, security, and availability.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach engineers while representing the team in project and technical communications.

Requirements

• Experience with Linux or Unix operating systems.
• Experience managing technical teams.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership about requirements, technical designs, product features, and strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience developing in a Linux environment.
