Linux Product Team Lead (AI)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor the Linux Product Team while defining the Linux platform’s technical direction, standards, roadmap, and lifecycle.
• Build and maintain secure Linux images and systems for server, edge, embedded, ruggedised, and deployed customer platforms.
• Optimise Linux performance, reliability, security, and compatibility across x86 and ARM environments, including Ubuntu Classic and Ubuntu Core.
• Automate provisioning, patching, configuration management, diagnostics, and Linux device manufacturing infrastructure.
• Establish observability, monitoring, telemetry, SLO, SLI, alerting, and incident management practices.
• Provide Level 3 support and collaborate with Software, AI, Security, Infrastructure, and Product teams on platform stability and scalability.

Requirements

• Extensive experience operating and debugging Linux systems based on Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, or Yocto.
• Deep knowledge of Linux internals, including the kernel, init systems, udev, cgroups, and bootloaders.
• Experience leading engineers, technical projects, or platform teams, with strong understanding of SRE principles.
• Proficiency in Bash and at least one additional programming language such as Python or Go.
• Experience with secure boot, TPMs, disk encryption, OS-level security controls, and custom Linux images.
• Knowledge of networking, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, PXE, systemd, Kickstart/preseed, or cloud-init workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, AWS, hybrid cloud, or distributed infrastructure.
• Background in Linux-based products, appliances, embedded systems, edge computing, or air-gapped environments.
• Experience with software supply chain security, SBOM management, regulated or defence environments, and developer platforms.
• Contributions to open-source Linux or operating system infrastructure tooling.
