Director of Accounting (Insurance)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end accounting functions including general ledger operations, month-end/year-end close, and consolidations.
• Ensure strict compliance with U.S. GAAP, client agreements, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, coordinating requests and resolving findings.
• Drive system and process optimization through automation to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Manage and mentor a diverse, distributed global team of accounting professionals across multiple time zones.
• Partner with FP&A and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives like M&A onboarding.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license or equivalent required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership role (Director or Controller).
• Proven experience leading global accounting teams and managing distributed operations.
• Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
