What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of 2–3 software engineers.
• Guide architecture, engineering standards, and technical decision-making.
• Deliver scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native products on AWS.
• Drive a "build it, own it, run it" engineering culture.
• Improve delivery flow and champion best practices in testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Encourage pragmatic adoption of AI tools to improve engineering productivity.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with production system experience.
• Previous experience leading engineers or small delivery teams.
• Strong Java and JavaScript development skills.
• Practical AWS and cloud-native architecture experience.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
• Ability to work from the Manchester office for practical exercises and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with serverless or event-driven architectures.
• Background in SaaS, platform, or data product development.
• Familiarity with Team Topologies or modern engineering operating models.
