What you will do

  • Manage a team of investigators, overseeing case allocation, prioritisation, and overall delivery.
  • Lead end-to-end internal investigations into colleague conduct, grievances, and workplace concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance, case oversight, and quality assurance on investigation reports and evidence gathering.
  • Act as a trusted partner to case managers, hearing managers, HR, Legal, and Risk stakeholders.
  • Coach and develop investigators to build capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance investigation practices and contribute to the function's operational transformation.

Requirements

  • Experience leading internal investigations into colleague conduct, grievances, or related workplace concerns.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including line management and coaching of professional investigators.
  • Strong workload management skills with the ability to balance case complexity and team capacity.
  • Ability to engage effectively with HR, Legal, and Risk stakeholders while maintaining objectivity.
  • Must be based in or able to work from Edinburgh, Bristol, or Halifax.

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of the ACAS Code, Equality Act, and UK employment law.
  • Previous experience in regulated financial services or complex corporate environments.
  • Experience leading teams through operational change, restructure, or process improvement.
  • Ability to use management information and trend data to optimize team performance.
