Embedded Software Engineer, Security, Level 4 (Embedded Security)

Location: San Diego, United States; office work is expected 4+ days per week under the default-together policy.

What you will do

• Design, build, and harden on-device security systems for Specs, including permissions, access control, secure IPC, sandboxing, and trusted execution boundaries.
• Develop security and privacy controls for on-device AI, including model integrity, sensitive data handling, inference-time privacy, and local policy enforcement.
• Implement security features across hirify.global OS, firmware, applications, system services, and cloud-connected device surfaces.
• Improve fuzzing infrastructure, automated security testing, and continuous validation pipelines for OS components, drivers, firmware interfaces, parsers, services, IPC mechanisms, and AI-related data flows.
• Perform threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, secure code review, static analysis, dynamic analysis, and security validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of production software development experience with C, C++, Rust, or similar languages.
• 3+ years of experience building security, privacy, or platform protection features for Linux-based, embedded, mobile, wearable, or connected-device systems.
• Knowledge of Linux system security, embedded operating systems, secure software architecture, applied cryptography, authentication, authorization, attestation, key management, and platform hardening.
• Experience with permission systems, access control, least privilege, sandboxing, secure IPC, service isolation, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, fuzzing, and automated security validation.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical discipline.
• Experience securing on-device AI, ML, or assistant-like systems.
• Experience with trusted execution technologies, secure manufacturing, device provisioning, attestation, anti-rollback, secure debug, lifecycle state management, and platform vulnerability hardening.
