Embedded Linux Engineer

Location: UPARC Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; must be a U.S. Person. Hybrid work environment with a flexible work schedule.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and maintain software for embedded Linux systems.
• Support hardware bring-up and validation for new products and prototypes.
• Integrate sensors, cameras, communications interfaces, and other peripheral devices.
• Create, modify, and troubleshoot Linux device drivers, kernel modules, BSPs, and system software.
• Debug software and hardware integration issues using logs, test equipment, and development tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and product teams on architecture, optimization, testing, documentation, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded software, embedded Linux, firmware, systems programming, or related disciplines.
• Strong programming skills in C or C++ and experience developing on Linux-based systems.
• Familiarity with embedded interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.
• Experience troubleshooting software and hardware integration issues and working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Must be a U.S. Person.

Nice to have

• Linux kernel-space development, kernel modules, device drivers, and kernel debugging.
• Yocto, Buildroot, Device Tree, or board support package experience.
• Experience with ARM, RISC-V, or x86 platforms and hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or JTAG debuggers.
• Experience with imaging systems, camera sensors, machine vision, or AI-enabled edge devices.
• Python or scripting experience, or contributions to open-source Linux projects.
