What you will do

• Conduct theoretical and computational projects to drive the development of neutral atom quantum computers.
• Develop and maintain atomic physics simulations using high-quality software practices.
• Collaborate with experimentalists and quantum engineers to model experimental results and hardware noise.
• Contribute to the design of next-generation neutral-atom quantum systems.
• Write clean, well-tested code in Python, Julia, or C++.

Requirements

• PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of atomic, molecular, and optical physics.
• Technical expertise in atomic structure, quantum optics, and qubit control (e.g., QutiP, QuantumOptics.jl).
• Familiarity with modern software development practices including version control and unit testing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a history of published research.
• Must be able to work on-site in Berkeley, CA or Boulder, CO.

Nice to have

• Experience working with or modeling Rydberg atoms.
• Startup experience with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
