What you will do

• Lead and develop a large organization of 40–60 engineers and 3–5 engineering managers.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of the payments platform roadmap across core infrastructure and merchant services.
• Set architectural direction for distributed systems, real-time transaction processing, and settlement infrastructure.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to align technical delivery with business KPIs.
• Drive operational excellence, including platform availability, latency, and incident management.
• Evaluate and integrate AI-first capabilities for intelligent routing and operational automation.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in a multi-team leadership role.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale payments or financial infrastructure in production.
• Strong technical depth in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures (AWS), and high-availability design.
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a regulated environment.
• Experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams at senior and staff levels.
• Must be based in Mountain View, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with card networks, ACH, RTP, or settlement infrastructure.
• Familiarity with PCI-DSS and SOX compliance controls.
• Background in AI-assisted engineering workflows.
