Director of Engineering, Money Platform (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional onsite attendance as needed.

Salary: $240,000–$300,000 annual base salary, plus equity and other total compensation components.

What you will do

• Lead the Money Platform, which receives, safeguards, moves, pays out, and orchestrates customer transfers.
• Set technical direction and deliver platform capabilities that product teams can integrate independently through clear contracts and strong developer experience.
• Establish a consistent delivery rhythm for platform capabilities used by product teams.
• Maintain high standards for operational excellence, reliability, and correctness across systems handling customer funds.
• Develop managers, principal engineers, and other technical leaders while engaging senior engineers on complex technical problems.
• Shape the platform strategy for engineers and future agents composing money movement directly, connecting technical decisions to business and customer outcomes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of technical leadership experience, including 5+ years leading multiple teams.
• Experience building and operating platforms or large distributed systems used by other engineering teams.
• Technical depth to collaborate as a peer with principal and staff engineers and intervene in difficult technical problems.
• Ability to articulate technical opinions to executives and connect business strategy with technical investments.
• Clear perspective on how an agentic world affects platform design and how to build for that future.
