TL;DR
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (US Federal) (Kubernetes/cloud security): Building, deploying, and operating security tooling and technical controls for a Kubernetes-based cloud platform with an accent on infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, and compliance. Focus on securing scalable platform components, automating provisioning and deployments with Terraform and Argo CD, and solving complex infrastructure security and reliability issues.

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At least 50% of each quarter must be spent in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $159,600–$239,400 USD for Reston; $144,400–$258,000 USD for additional US locations.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and operate security tooling and technical controls for a Kubernetes-based infrastructure platform.
  • Develop infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability capabilities, and secure platform components.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Argo CD.
  • Maintain high availability, scalability, and security across core platform components.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues with peer development teams and provide operational support.
  • Maintain security standards, compliance practices, documentation, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports U.S. Federal Government contracts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, security, and software development engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Argo CD, AWS production infrastructure, security tools, encryption, authorization, auditing, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, with strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Strong Kubernetes and containerization experience.
  • Proficiency in C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience with air-gapped cloud regions.
  • DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
