Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager – Application Software (Aerospace)

Location: Greater Seattle Area, Seattle, Washington, United States. Relocation assistance is provided. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $197,004–$275,805.60 per year.

hirify.global develops reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems, with this role supporting the In-Space Systems business unit and national security programs.

What you will do

• Lead embedded software engineers developing mission-critical application software for national security space programs.
• Contribute hands-on to technical design, implementation, code reviews, debugging, and software quality.
• Establish technical direction and lifecycle processes for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware and cross-functional teams on software integration and performance requirements.
• Manage project schedules, resource allocation, and technical risk mitigation.
• Mentor engineers and balance approximately 50% technical work with 50% people leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Current hands-on proficiency with embedded software development practices and tools.
• Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for leading technical discussions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of aerospace or defense embedded software development experience.
• Experience with NASA or Space Force standards and cybersecurity principles for embedded systems.
• Experience with GNC algorithms, FMSA, and Agile/Scrum in mission-critical environments.
