Principal Flight Software Architect (Aerospace)

Location: Louisville, Colorado, United States; flexible for occasional telework, but must be local to the work location.

Salary: $152,624.06–$265,383.63 projected annual compensation range.

What you will do

• Develop architectures for complex flight and ground software across spacecraft and payload missions.
• Design embedded applications and algorithms using microcontrollers, processors, GPUs, and SoC devices.
• Lead day-to-day architecture and code development, design artifacts, code reviews, and code management.
• Develop design assurance methods and processes with the Senior Director of Engineering while balancing technical excellence, cost, and schedule.
• Lead internal and external design reviews and present complex technical topics to customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering or computation field, plus 16–18 years of experience; alternatively, an MS with 14+ years or a PhD with 10+ years.
• Professional software engineering experience in high-reliability space and aerospace applications.
• Extensive experience with space processing architectures, including microcontrollers, processors, SoCs, and GPUs.
• Deep knowledge of embedded systems, operating systems, RTOS, and C/C++.
• Experience supporting products through all development phases, from requirements derivation and development through sustainment.
