Embedded Software Engineering Lead (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop the embedded software engineering team responsible for flight-critical and avionics systems.
• Plan firmware releases, break down work, manage sprints, track timelines, and communicate with program stakeholders.
• Design and lead development of fault-tolerant, high-performance flight software for mission-critical operations.
• Develop and test real-time embedded software for satellite control, data processing, communications, and laser power transmission.
• Integrate software with spacecraft avionics, sensors, actuators, and communication systems.
• Build software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments with hardware and test teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years leading an embedded software development team and 5+ years as an embedded software engineer, particularly in aerospace or satellite applications.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Rust for embedded systems, including bare-metal development.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, and LVDS hardware interfaces.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and Linux-based embedded systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.

Nice to have

• 5+ years leading an embedded software team in aerospace or satellite applications.
• FPGA development and high-speed embedded computing experience.
• Experience developing software for space environments.
• Familiarity with satellite communication protocols and telemetry processing.
