Senior Software Engineer (Design System)

Location: Preference for London, UK; remote workers across Europe are accommodated (subject to compliance and right to work checks).

Salary: from 120,000 EUR/GBP/CHF base + stock options

What you will do

• Build and evolve the design system, including component libraries, design tokens, and documentation.
• Develop AI-assisted development tools for the design system using Storybook and machine-readable interfaces (e.g., MCP).
• Design robust, misuse-resistant component APIs for both human and AI developers.
• Write high-quality, performant React/TypeScript code to ensure consistency across the engineering organization.
• Ensure accessibility by default, meeting WCAG 2.2 AA standards, and collaborating with accessibility engineers.
• Implement theming, white-labeling, and localization/RTL support for a global audience.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years at a senior level.
• Proven experience owning a design system or shared component library used across multiple products.
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
• Must be based in the UK or Europe.
• Strong command of component API design, versioning, and developer experience (DX).
• Ability to build components to WCAG 2.2 AA standards and verify them via keyboard and screen readers.

Nice to have

• Strong design sensibility and visual attention to detail.
• Experience implementing multi-brand theming in production.
• Experience with localization and internationalization (including RTL).
