TL;DR
Legal Counsel, EU Employment Law (Platform Workers) (Platform Work): Advising on platform worker and rider classification risks, litigation, regulatory investigations, and the EU Platform Workers Directive with an accent on employment law, worker classification, and cross-jurisdictional legal strategy. Focus on developing defense strategies, analyzing regulatory changes, and supporting delivery products, operations, and new platform-work business models.

Location: Vienna, Austria; must be based in or willing to relocate to one of the company's markets in the EU. Remote work and limited international travel of up to 10% are available.

Salary: EUR 80,000 gross annual starting salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Manage platform worker and rider classification risks globally with international employment lawyers.
  • Monitor high-profile litigation and regulatory investigations and develop defense strategies with local counsel.
  • Advise Product, Tech, Operations, Public Policy, senior management, and other stakeholders on platform work.
  • Support new business models and strategic opportunities related to platform work.
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments and interpret their impact on delivery operations.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified employment lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.
  • At least three years of law firm experience with a strong litigation background.
  • Deep expertise in platform work, worker classification, and the EU Platform Workers Directive.
  • Strong legal judgment, stakeholder influence, communication, drafting, and executive presentation skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and fluency in at least one additional European language.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across jurisdictions and functions in a fast-paced environment.
