Legal Counsel - Employment Law Advisory (Hybrid - 80-100%)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week

Annual base salary: GBP 94,000–140,000, plus performance-based variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide employment law advice across the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, employee relations, discipline, termination, and retirement.
• Draft, review, and negotiate HR-related legal documents.
• Support employment aspects of restructurings, acquisitions, and disposals.
• Develop local and global templates, policies, processes, and employment law best practices.
• Advise on pay equity, discrimination prevention, wage and hour matters, workplace safety, data protection, and global mobility.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, prepare reports and presentations, and deliver in-house training.

Requirements

• Fully UK-qualified lawyer.
• At least 7 years of post-qualification employment law experience, covering contentious and non-contentious matters.
• Experience in both a law firm and in-house at a multinational company, preferably in banking, insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of corporate HR operations and the employee lifecycle.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
• Pragmatic, solution-oriented client service and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with international employment law issues.
• Additional language proficiency beyond English.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies affecting the workplace.
• Project management experience with multi-jurisdictional initiatives.
• Advanced degree or employment law certification, or experience working abroad.
