Director, AI Governance (AI)

Location: New York, United States

Salary: $187,560–$356,280 per year for New York City; compensation varies by work location. Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Establish and operationalize an enterprise data and AI governance framework covering data quality, privacy, lineage, and ethical AI use.
• Chair the Data Council and participate in the AI Governance Board to review and approve data and AI use cases.
• Oversee the enterprise data catalog, metadata standards, stewardship processes, ownership, lifecycle management, and access control.
• Partner with privacy, information security, and legal functions on data regulations, privacy laws, and AI governance requirements.
• Define guardrails for citizen-led AI development, low-code tools, and generative AI.
• Develop governance KPIs covering data quality, privacy incidents, and model validation rates.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data governance, information management, or AI governance in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep knowledge of data quality, metadata, privacy, and data lineage frameworks.
• Understanding of AI model lifecycle governance, responsible AI principles, the EU AI Act, and NIST AI RMF.
• Experience leading enterprise councils or cross-functional governance programs.
• Strong collaboration skills with privacy, security, and compliance organizations.
• Exceptional communication and influence skills for translating governance and AI concepts into executive-level insights.
