TL;DR
E-Core (Atom) CPU Layout Design Engineer (CPU Physical Design): Building and verifying physical implementations for memory compilers, custom IP blocks, and layout partitions supporting high-performance Intel Atom microprocessors with an accent on hierarchical layout, circuit interpretation, and cross-site SoC integration. Focus on solving complex physical design challenges, debugging CAD tools, and ensuring consistency from leaf-level cells through top-level integration.

Location: Penang, Malaysia; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work

What you will do

  • Drive complex digital physical design assignments across multiple design stages.
  • Interpret schematics with circuit design engineers and implement physical layouts.
  • Build and verify physical design hierarchy from leaf-level cell layouts to block-level and top-level integration.
  • Work with the CAD team to debug tool functionality and resolve tool bugs.
  • Partner with SoC teams and cross-site design groups to align implementation, reuse, and consistency across projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic or Microelectronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in layout design.
  • Familiarity with VLSI and CMOS logic circuit design.
  • Proficiency in Unix shell scripting, Tcl, and Perl.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, prioritization, multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
