TL;DR

Variable Compensation Specialist: Supporting the design, administration, and continuous improvement of variable compensation programs with an accent on commission and bonus plan modeling. Focus on ensuring accurate payouts, maintaining compensation accruals, and providing analytical support to Finance and Sales leadership.

Location: Must be based in New York, NY (Onsite)

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

  • Administer monthly, quarterly, and annual incentive compensation cycles, ensuring accurate calculations and payments.
  • Partner with Finance to forecast compensation expenses, model plan costs, and support annual budgeting.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding commission and bonus structures.
  • Monitor employee turnover and maintain accurate compensation accruals.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and competitive analysis to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Prepare and maintain incentive plan documents, policies, and administrative procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in variable compensation plan design or incentive administration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and complex data analysis.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex business rules and apply them to compensation plans.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining calculations to employees and leadership.
  • Must be based in New York, NY as this is an onsite role.

Nice to have

  • Experience with compensation management software or HRIS platforms.
  • Previous experience partnering with Finance and business leaders on compensation strategy.
