Staff Software Engineer, Resiliency (Federal) (Java)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid role. Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person, such as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or U.S. national. A U.S. visa does not qualify.

Salary: $194,000–$243,000 USD annual base salary for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, plus potential equity, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver cloud infrastructure projects that improve reliability and scalability.
• Build backend frameworks, tools, microservices, and reusable library components for organization-wide use.
• Advise engineering teams on scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant system design.
• Integrate AI-driven developer tools, automated diagnostics, and predictive monitoring into development and reliability workflows.
• Lead design and code reviews, automated testing, incident root cause analyses, and long-term reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, engineering services, and technical operations while mentoring engineers and interns.

Requirements

• U.S. person status is required; working on a U.S. visa does not qualify.
• 8+ years of software development experience with expert-level Java knowledge.
• Experience architecting, implementing, tuning, and debugging global cloud software.
• Strong understanding of microservices, cloud infrastructure, and container ecosystems including Docker and Kubernetes; AWS is preferred, with Azure or GCP also relevant.
• Experience solving scaling, redundancy, performance, and high-availability challenges in multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Strong communication, leadership, project coordination, and technical influence skills; a computer science degree or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

• Golang experience.
• Previous experience in platform reliability, resilience, or core infrastructure.
• Experience using generative AI utilities and developer assistance tools for productivity and system optimization.
