What you will do
- Design arm parts in 3D CAD to meet load conditions, industrial design form factor, and durability requirements.
- Build prototypes to validate assembly, range of motion, and wire routing.
- Create accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Partner with the GSM team to select suppliers and order components.
- Inspect first articles, build test stands, and continuously support parts on robot development platforms.
Requirements
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Expert-level 3D CAD skills for complex geometry mechanical parts.
- Experience designing and building prototypes.
- Experience with simulation and analysis methods (e.g., FEA, MATLAB).
- Experience with actuators (strain-wave, planetary, or cycloidal) and electromechanical integration (sensors, motors, motor drivers, wire harnesses, communication buses).
Nice to have
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing and contract manufacturers.
- CATIA V6 experience.
- Wire harness design experience.
