What you will do
- Design mechanical integration solutions for powertrain components, including generators and turboshaft engines.
- Develop detailed metallic parts, assemblies, and inlet/exhaust ducting systems for thermal management.
- Collaborate with aerothermal and structural analysts to optimize performance, pressure drop, and fatigue requirements.
- Own the full prototype development lifecycle, including requirements, design, BOM, procurement, assembly, and testing.
- Perform handbook calculations and interface with suppliers for COTS solutions.
- Create technical drawings and develop verification testing strategies (e.g., DO-160G).
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience integrating air-breathing turbomachinery or propulsion systems (Turbofan, Turboshaft).
- Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks, NX) and managing complex assemblies in Team Center.
- Expertise in FEA tools (NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus) and GD&T for manufacturing drawings.
- Hands-on experience with carbon composites, sheet metal ducting, and metallic structures.
- Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of electric powertrain systems or aerospace systems.
- Experience with Part 23 Certification and/or ARP4754A.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
- Experience transitioning vehicles from prototype phase to mass production.
