TL;DR

Staff Mechanical Engineer (Robotics): Leading the design and development of electromechanical subsystems for next-generation humanoid robots with an accent on mechanism design, electronics packaging, and structural analysis. Focus on mentoring junior engineers, driving DFx initiatives, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to scale production.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Fremont, CA (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office)

Salary: $185,000–$240,000 USD

What you will do

  • Own the design of electromechanical components and subsystems for the next generation of robots.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to define requirements and develop design concepts.
  • Perform engineering analyses including structural, thermal, and tolerance stack-up modeling.
  • Support root cause investigations and implement design improvements.
  • Mentor and nurture junior engineers within the mechanical team.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation using Creo and Windchill.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proven experience in mechanism design, electronics packaging, and drive-train components.
  • Proficiency in Creo and Windchill.
  • Strong background in FEA, static, and dynamic analysis.
  • Ability to travel 25% to the Robot Factory in Salem, Oregon.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in mechatronics or robotics.
  • Experience with actuator design or selection.
  • Prior experience with Jira and Confluence for project management.
