Commissioning Specialist (Building Systems)

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States; field travel of up to 50% required. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Lead commissioning activities for new construction, renovations, and existing facilities.
• Manage equipment startup, QA/QC inspections, functional performance testing, and systems validation.
• Verify mechanical, electrical, life-safety, and low-voltage control systems against owner requirements and applicable codes.
• Identify, document, and coordinate resolution of system deficiencies with contractors, engineers, and owners.
• Develop commissioning plans and manage project schedules, turnover reports, testing procedures, and documentation packages.
• Support facility asset management and performance-optimization initiatives while maintaining safety and reliability standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education and extensive professional experience.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in commissioning or facility systems validation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, mechanical/HVAC systems, life-safety systems, and low-voltage controls.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes, and TAB processes.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for field assignments.

Nice to have

• CxA, CCP, CBCP, or similar commissioning certification.
• Experience with Integrated Systems Testing and complex performance validation in mission-critical environments.
• Proactive, consultative leadership experience identifying design and installation issues before they become operational failures.
