TL;DR
Drafter CAD Sr - New Glenn (Aerospace): Designing and maintaining models, drawings, configurations, and product structures for the New Glenn Stage 1 Tank and propellant management systems with an accent on mechanical design, CAD integration, and drafting standards. Focus on managing large CAD assemblies, resolving design discrepancies, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis, and supporting manufacturing through supplier travel.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States; travel up to 20% to suppliers and the manufacturing facility in Florida.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $47.01–$65.81 per hour. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain models, drawings, configurations, layouts, and product definitions for New Glenn launch vehicle hardware.
  • Maintain and revise released drawings in response to engineering change requests from internal teams and suppliers.
  • Manage Stage 1 Tank assemblies, export data, fulfill product structure requests, and automate CAD tasks with scripts.
  • Apply mechanical design, drafting, manufacturing, fits, tolerance, and GD&T standards to detail, assembly, and installation drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineering, analysis, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve design discrepancies and emergent issues.
  • Support drafting standards, perform standards checks, prioritize work, and help drive standard work across CAD and PLM processes.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience, plus 7+ years of recent experience designing or drafting aerospace, automotive, or equivalent structural parts, components, or subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware on the production floor or in service.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/Engineer), Windchill, large CAD assemblies, associated drawings, and PDM version-control databases.
  • Strong 3-D CAD mechanical design and integration skills, including fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis using ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, and Y14.41.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee under export-control requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to suppliers and the Florida manufacturing facility.

  • Launch vehicle, spacecraft, or cryogenic structures experience.
  • Experience leading peer reviews, mentoring, and improving CAD and PLM standard work.
