Mechanical Designer (Aviation)

Location: On-site at Fort Eustis, VA, United States. Travel up to 25% is required for site surveys, technical interchange meetings, training, testing support, and other mission tasks.

Salary: $72,000–$90,000 annually. The position is contingent upon contract award.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical models, designs, engineering drawings, and technical data packages for aviation systems and special mission hardware.
• Design aircraft structures, mounting structures, and support structures using PTC Pro/Engineer/Creo and Creo Schematics.
• Prepare configuration-controlled drawing packages and engineering analyses in Windchill for prototypes, production, and special-purpose hardware.
• Ensure designs and drawings comply with applicable airframe specifications, FAA regulations, ASME Y14.100-2000, and MIL-STD-31000B.
• Support testing by purchasing and maintaining equipment, coordinating test services, and assisting with equipment packing and movement.
• Coordinate with fabricators and work independently or as part of a larger team of designers and engineers.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Secret security clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School diploma or High School Equivalency certificate.
• At least 8 years of experience with CAD software, including PTC Pro/Engineer/Creo or AutoCAD.
• Experience generating and interpreting part, assembly, and installation drawings.
• Ability to oversee technical and less senior staff implementing and developing assigned duties.
