TL;DR
Senior Technical Pricing Analyst (Actuarial Modelling and Machine Learning): Developing statistical risk models and analytical pricing solutions for UK motor and household insurance with an accent on actuarial modelling, data preparation, and research-driven innovation. Focus on improving model sophistication, applying machine learning techniques in Python or R, and translating complex results into profitable business decisions.

Location: Any hirify.global UK office, hybrid, with the option to work fully from home within the UK. Offices are located in London, Eastleigh, and Bournemouth.

Salary: Up to £52,800 per year.

What you will do

  • Create robust actuarial models and interpret results to deliver innovative insurance pricing solutions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc actuarial and statistical analyses to solve business problems with stakeholders across the company.
  • Produce reports, documentation, and presentations explaining statistical models and results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing methodologies and apply new analytical techniques.
  • Support strategic change across Broker insurance products, including Private Car, Van, Bike, and Household.

Requirements

  • A* or A grades in Mathematics and other numerate A-level subjects.
  • A 2:1 degree or above in a numerate discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Physics.
  • Excellent analytical, logical, lateral problem-solving, data manipulation, interpretation, and research skills.
  • Ability to investigate results beyond obvious first-order effects and communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work from within the UK.

Nice to have

  • PhD or research-based Master’s degree.
  • Experience in actuarial pricing or statistical modelling, preferably in a regulated, multi-divisional industry.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques such as GBMs, Elastic Net Regression, or Random Forests using Python or R.
  • Awareness of industry-specific software such as Emblem.
  • Experience partnering with teams to influence decisions, gain buy-in, and share knowledge.
