What you will do
- Lead the ISR team and freelancers, providing practical support and strategic technical guidance.
- Advise on IT needs and implement automation and modern tooling to improve organizational efficiency.
- Plan and develop new features for in-house workflow and data management systems.
- Oversee the administration of web applications (WordPress, Django/Python, Laravel/PHP, Vue.js) and server infrastructure (Linux, Windows, FileMaker).
- Manage software and hardware procurement, including CRM and finance tools.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, IT standards, and cybersecurity best practices in coordination with EMBL.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure, including hands-on experience in application and database operation.
- Experience with FileMaker or similar database platforms.
- Proven track record of team and project leadership and implementing IT strategies.
- Must be based in or be able to relocate to Heidelberg, Germany.
- English: C1 level (excellent spoken and written) required.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Computer Science or IT.
- Experience in multi-stakeholder, scientific, or non-profit organizations.
- Practical experience with the specific tech stack used at .
- Knowledge of database migration and GDPR certification.
