Engineering Manager (Data & Analytics)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 engineers, fostering a product-minded data engineering culture.
• Own roadmap sequencing and negotiate priorities with product stakeholders.
• Balance the demands of maintaining a self-service data platform and delivering product-specific data features.
• Guide the team through technical transitions, particularly in data streaming and data modeling.
• Drive the cultural shift toward distributed data ownership across product teams.
• Build foundations for AI data governance, including guardrails and safety for agentic analytics.

Requirements

• Must be based in Germany and able to work in a hybrid model.
• Proven experience at a Staff Engineer level or equivalent in data engineering.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Hands-on experience with data modeling and data streaming technologies.
• Experience managing or developing engineers with a focus on coaching and product thinking.
• Ability to operate effectively across both platform and product delivery contexts.

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance for AI agents, including access control and safety.
• Familiarity with data lakes, semantic layers, and orchestration tooling at scale.
• Experience in a product-led B2B SaaS environment.
• Hands-on streaming experience with Kafka or Flink.
