What you will do
- Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 engineers, fostering a product-minded data engineering culture.
- Own roadmap sequencing and negotiate priorities with product stakeholders.
- Balance the demands of maintaining a self-service data platform and delivering product-specific data features.
- Guide the team through technical transitions, particularly in data streaming and data modeling.
- Drive the cultural shift toward distributed data ownership across product teams.
- Build foundations for AI data governance, including guardrails and safety for agentic analytics.
Requirements
- Must be based in Germany and able to work in a hybrid model.
- Proven experience at a Staff Engineer level or equivalent in data engineering.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling and data streaming technologies.
- Experience managing or developing engineers with a focus on coaching and product thinking.
- Ability to operate effectively across both platform and product delivery contexts.
Nice to have
- Experience with data governance for AI agents, including access control and safety.
- Familiarity with data lakes, semantic layers, and orchestration tooling at scale.
- Experience in a product-led B2B SaaS environment.
- Hands-on streaming experience with Kafka or Flink.
