Electrical Design Engineer (EPLAN)

Location: Porto region, Portugal; work from the hirify.global Portugal office while collaborating remotely with a Dutch customer and international engineering teams.

Salary: €2,000–€2,750 per month.

What you will do

• Create and maintain electrical schematics in EPLAN Electric P8.
• Design control cabinet layouts, terminal diagrams, cable lists, and bills of materials.
• Develop electrical systems for cranes, hoisting equipment, and heavy lifting solutions used in offshore, marine, wind energy, and heavy industry environments.
• Support the selection of electrical components, sensors, drives, and control systems, including motor control, VFDs, safety circuits, limit switches, and load monitoring systems.
• Prepare technical documentation for production, commissioning, and service, and update drawings based on project changes, client specifications, and as-built information.
• Collaborate in English with mechanical, automation, and project engineers and the Dutch customer team.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, EPLAN Engineer, or in a similar role.
• Good experience with EPLAN and electrical design, including schematics, control cabinets, cable lists, terminal diagrams, and BOMs.
• Technical background in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
• Knowledge of industrial components such as drives, sensors, motors, safety relays, PLC I/O, and control systems.
• Knowledge of motor control, VFDs, safety circuits, limit switches, and load monitoring systems.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Structured and accurate working style, with the ability to work independently while staying connected to an international project team.

Nice to have

• Experience with offshore, marine, cranes, hoisting systems, heavy machinery, machine building, industrial automation, material handling, shipbuilding, or heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of IEC 60204-1, IEC 60204-32, EN ISO 13849, or IEC 62061.
• Experience with Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Rockwell, Pilz, or similar systems.
• Experience with safety circuits, functional safety, drives, or motor control.
• Interest in AI, automation tools, digital engineering workflows, and other new engineering technologies.
