Senior Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 + equity

K2 Space is a Series C startup building the largest and highest-power satellite platforms for missions from LEO to deep space.

What you will do

• Design and implement software for vehicle build, test, and operations.
• Collaborate with Mission Operators and Engineers to solve complex technical and business problems.
• Lead software design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
• Develop across the full stack using Rust (backend) and TypeScript/Vue (frontend).
• Provide on-call support for ground test activities and on-orbit spacecraft operations.
• Mentor other engineers to improve team culture and software engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Math, or a STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience building software solutions in a professional environment.
• Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, etc.).
• Ability to work on-site at the headquarters in Torrance, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience with space missions or satellite ground segments.
• Proficiency in Rust or other statically-typed languages (Go, C++, Java).
• Experience with modern frontend tooling (Vue, React, Svelte).
• Knowledge of gRPC, SQL (PostgreSQL), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and data streaming (NATS, Pulsar).
