Associate Director, Enterprise Architecture (AI)

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC, United States; hybrid role

Salary: $152,000–$209,000 base compensation per year

What you will do

• Define and govern enterprise architecture standards across Global Commercial and Medical IT.
• Lead architecture for strategic initiatives, including target-state designs, integration decisions, and business capability roadmaps.
• Develop secure integration and data architecture patterns using APIs, event-driven architecture, data-sharing models, and enterprise data flows.
• Rationalize the application portfolio by reducing duplication, fragmentation, integration issues, and total cost of ownership.
• Evaluate cloud services, automation, data products, AI/ML, and generative AI for regulated business use cases.
• Partner with enterprise integration, data, analytics, security, infrastructure, delivery, and platform teams while mentoring architecture and delivery professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible IT experience and 3–5+ years in architecture leadership roles.
• Enterprise or solution architecture experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotech, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
• Experience supporting Commercial and/or Medical business domains and global operating needs.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise integration, data architecture, APIs, event-driven architecture, and secure system interoperability.
• Experience translating business priorities into target-state architecture, roadmaps, and practical solutions; familiarity with TOGAF, ArchiMate, or equivalent frameworks.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MS or MBA.
• Experience with CRM, omnichannel engagement, medical communications, customer data, and analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Veeva, Snowflake, Azure, enterprise integration tools, customer data platforms, master data, and data products.
• Experience integrating AI/ML, generative AI, automation, or cloud capabilities in regulated environments.
• Agile delivery experience, including global cross-functional teams; SAFe experience is a plus.
