Principal Enterprise Architect, Business Architecture (AI)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah; work-from-home options are available.

Salary: $163,700–$316,500 annually, varying by U.S. geographic market, knowledge, position level, and experience.

What you will do

• Own and maintain business architecture artifacts, including capability models, value stream maps, and domain decompositions.
• Identify high-value AI and machine learning opportunities across business domains and define enabling architecture patterns.
• Create target-state architectures, domain roadmaps, and governance models aligned with business goals.
• Partner with business and product leaders to translate strategic intent into architecture artifacts.
• Lead architecture reviews for significant initiatives, covering capability fit, process impact, and domain boundaries.
• Analyze capability gaps and redundancies across brands and develop business cases for platform consolidation and investment priorities.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in business architecture, enterprise architecture, strategy, or a closely related technology discipline.
• Hands-on expertise in capability modeling, value stream mapping, and domain decomposition.
• Competency in information security, cloud, data, and integration architecture, including secure SaaS integration patterns.
• Practical understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, AI use-case identification, and AI-enabled process design.
• Ability to own a domain, drive standards adoption, and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority in a matrixed organization.
• Proficiency with architecture modeling tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, or Sparx EA, and familiarity with TOGAF or ArchiMate.

Nice to have

• Experience governing AI-enabled business capabilities in a production enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and responsible AI principles.
• Experience in healthcare, healthcare staffing, or another regulated industry.
• Experience helping build an enterprise architecture practice from its early foundations through steady-state operations.
