Mechanical Design Engineer (Battery Module)

Mechanical Design Engineer (Battery Module): Leading the design, integration, and validation of battery module mechanical and thermal systems for electrification programs with an accent on New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) phases. Focus on translating system requirements into robust mechanical designs, performing thermal/structural analysis, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards from concept through production.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Mossville, IL, USA. Role requires 5-day a week on-site availability.

Salary: $97,530 – $146,290

What you will do

• Lead the development and integration of battery module mechanical and thermal systems.
• Translate mechanical system requirements into detailed component and subsystem designs.
• Perform mechanical analysis, identify design problems, and implement effective resolutions.
• Construct and fabricate prototype equipment while overseeing material selection and process optimization.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers using the APQP process to ensure quality and reliability.
• Document high-voltage mechanical system integration best practices and design guides.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
• Extensive experience with CAD modeling and specialized engineering graphics programs.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to determine root causes and create alternative solutions.
• Proven experience in product design and development from concept through production.
• Must be authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Must be able to work on-site in Mossville, IL, five days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with structural design, analysis, or validation.
• Knowledge of DFMEAs, battery pack design, or testing.
• Familiarity with 6 Sigma, lean methodologies, or project management.
• Experience with TCE/Releasing processes.
