Senior Software Development Engineer (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field, with possible onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area

Annual base salary: $163,800–$245,800 for the primary location; $148,200–$264,000 for additional U.S. locations

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement Kubernetes platform solutions, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Build and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure platform components.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments with Terraform and Argo CD.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and support peer development teams.
• Implement security practices and maintain compliance with applicable industry and federal standards.
• Document platform components and share knowledge across engineering teams in multiple locations and time zones.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Mid-level: at least 5 years of experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and software development; Senior: at least 8 years.
• Mid-level: at least 3 years working with Kubernetes; Senior: at least 5 years.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and at least one of C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, or Go.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly may be required.

Nice to have

• AWS certification and production experience with Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with security auditing, compliance frameworks, or air-gapped cloud regions.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
