Senior Software Development Engineer (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; U.S. citizenship required. The role spends at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field, and may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

Annual base salary: $163,800–$245,800 for the primary location; $148,200–$264,000 for additional U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design, build, and implement Kubernetes platform solutions, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Build and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure platform components.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments with Terraform and Argo CD.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and provide support to peer development teams.
• Implement security practices and maintain compliance with applicable industry standards.
• Document platform components and processes, share knowledge, and collaborate with engineering teams across locations and time zones.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory because the role supports U.S. federal government contracts.
• 4+ years of experience for mid-level or 6+ years for senior-level work with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and software development engineering.
• Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform: 2+ years for mid-level or 4+ years for senior-level candidates.
• Kubernetes experience: 2+ years for mid-level or 3+ years for senior-level candidates.
• Programming experience with C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, or Go: 2+ years for mid-level or 4+ years for senior-level candidates.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools, AWS production environments, security auditing, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience working in air-gapped cloud regions.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
• A bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
