TL;DR

Location: NYC or SF; Remote-US

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 USD

What you will do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on benefits, policies, and People topics across NYC, SF, and Remote-US.
  • Run day-to-day People Ops administration including payroll, benefits enrollment, leave tracking, and HRIS data integrity.
  • Improve onboarding and offboarding workflows, coordinating the new-hire experience through the first 90 days and managing exit logistics.
  • Identify gaps in People Ops processes and design simple, scalable solutions; maintain documentation, playbooks, and internal FAQs.
  • Support employment-law compliance across states and prepare People Ops reports and metrics (e.g., headcount, time-to-hire).

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR, or a related function in a startup or fast-growing company.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Comfort working with HRIS tools and other People Ops systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach.
  • NYC or SF-based and able to join the team in-office on a hybrid rhythm.
  • Comfort in fast-paced environments where priorities shift and processes are still being built.

Nice to have

  • Experience with benefits administration, leave management, or basic employment compliance.
  • Familiarity with HRIS/payroll platforms such as Rippling, Greenhouse, or Gem.
  • Experience in healthcare, marketplace, or operations-heavy environments.
