What you will do
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on benefits, policies, and People topics across NYC, SF, and Remote-US.
- Run day-to-day People Ops administration including payroll, benefits enrollment, leave tracking, and HRIS data integrity.
- Improve onboarding and offboarding workflows, coordinating the new-hire experience through the first 90 days and managing exit logistics.
- Identify gaps in People Ops processes and design simple, scalable solutions; maintain documentation, playbooks, and internal FAQs.
- Support employment-law compliance across states and prepare People Ops reports and metrics (e.g., headcount, time-to-hire).
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR, or a related function in a startup or fast-growing company.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Comfort working with HRIS tools and other People Ops systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach.
- NYC or SF-based and able to join the team in-office on a hybrid rhythm.
- Comfort in fast-paced environments where priorities shift and processes are still being built.
Nice to have
- Experience with benefits administration, leave management, or basic employment compliance.
- Familiarity with HRIS/payroll platforms such as Rippling, Greenhouse, or Gem.
- Experience in healthcare, marketplace, or operations-heavy environments.
