What you will do

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for US employees and contractors, ensuring accuracy in salary changes, bonuses, and tax withholdings.
  • Administer equity programs, including processing grants, exercises, and terminations via platforms like Carta or Pulley.
  • Manage leave programs (FMLA, parental, medical) and provide empathetic guidance to employees throughout the process.
  • Lead day-to-day benefits administration and coordinate open enrollment for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and HSA/FSA.
  • Oversee state and local tax compliance, handle unemployment insurance claims, and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers.
  • Support the Director of HR in maintaining compensation structures and conducting market benchmarking analyses.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll, benefits, or HR operations.
  • Working knowledge of federal and multi-state US payroll tax law and leave regulations (FMLA, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for dataset analysis.
  • Experience administering benefits programs and coordinating open enrollment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive employee data with high discretion and professionalism.
  • Must be based in the US to manage US-specific payroll and tax requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with equity administration platforms such as Carta or Pulley.
  • HR certifications like PHR, SHRM-CP, or CPP.
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms (Rippling, Deel, Workday, or BambooHR).
