Salary: $130,000 – $170,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform unit- and system-level structural analysis using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Provide recommendations to the mechanical design team to optimize spacecraft hardware for extreme environments.
• Generate structural test specifications for components and customer payloads.
• Conduct mechanical testing, including vibration, static load, and shock testing of systems and components.

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a closely related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience with dynamics analysis using Femap/Nastran or similar FEA software.
• Deep understanding of structural dynamics, including modal analysis, resonance, damping, and random vibration.
• Familiarity with material selection and the effects of launch and space environments on mechanical hardware.
• U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status is required.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing and testing space hardware with demonstrated on-orbit success.
• Deep understanding of spacecraft structural loads (quasi-static, random vibration, shock, thermo-mechanical).
• Familiarity with Coupled Loads Analysis.
• Previous experience working on DoD and other USG development and deployment programs.
• Ability to hold and maintain a USG Security Clearance.
