TL;DR

Staff External Loads Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and documenting the airframe loads development process for all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with an accent on static and fatigue loads. Focus on supporting wind tunnel and flight test execution, ensuring FAA compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize aircraft performance.

Salary: $172,800 - $225,600

hirify.global is an aerospace company building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to advance sustainable air mobility.

What you will do

  • Own the development, documentation, and improvement of the airframe loads development process.
  • Provide static and fatigue loads directly consumable by airframe, engine, and mechanical systems teams.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamics, airframe, engine, mass properties, and propeller teams.
  • Support wind tunnel and flight test planning, instrumentation, data acquisition, and report writing.
  • Participate in loads means and methods of compliance discussions with the FAA and prepare certification test plans.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing loads analysis processes for air vehicles.
  • Fundamental understanding of strength, stability, and fatigue failure mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Matlab scripting.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices and version control.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of aircraft, rotorcraft, and propeller certification standards (14 CFR Parts 23, 27, and 35).
  • Experience with structural/rotor dynamics, vibratory loads, and FE models (NASTRAN).
  • Experience with rotorcraft simulation tools like RCAS or CAMRAD.
  • Experience developing loads for eVTOL vehicles or tiltrotors.
  • Proficiency in CAD (NX preferred) or possessing a Pilot’s license.
