TL;DR

HR Consultant: Providing comprehensive HR support and compliance guidance to clients with an accent on wage and hour laws, leaves of absence, and employee relations. Focus on interpreting client contracts, managing billable work, and delivering expert solutions to complex HR and payroll challenges.

Location: Must be based in or able to work in the US (preference for DC, Northern Virginia, or Maryland area)

Salary: $45–$60 per hour

What you will do

  • Provide extensive consultation on wage and hour, leaves of absence, and worker’s compensation.
  • Ensure client compliance with state and federal leave laws and employee relations matters.
  • Interpret client contracts and manage billable work, including tracking time and identifying supplemental service opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding policy, benefits, and payroll compliance.
  • Develop and conduct training content for webinars and client presentations.
  • Monitor compliance inquiries and provide timely, expert resolutions.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of professional HR experience with a focus on employment-related compliance.
  • Advanced knowledge of state and federal regulations (COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, etc.).
  • Active HR certification required (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
